Dr. Steven Merchant is a dental specialist in endodontics.  Endodontists have two years of additional education to become experts in performing root canal treatment, and diagnosing and treating tooth pain.  A proper diagnosis is our first priority.   Oftentimes, we find that patients do not need root canal treatment.  When root canal treatment is required, your comfort is our utmost concern.  We offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation.  We want your root canal treatment to be a good experience and strive to make every patient feel comfortable and relaxed while in our care.

Our professional efforts are aimed toward maximizing the probability of success in saving your tooth.  Dr. Merchant utilizes advanced endodontic treatment techniques along with state-of-the-art technology.

Dr. Merchant is continually elevating the standard-of-quality in endodontic diagnosis and treatment utilizing microscope-enhanced therapy for conventional and surgical treatment.

Endodontic therapy is delivered under a powerful surgical operating microscope, which allows optimum visualization and illumination of complex root canal anatomy.  Our dental assistants having microscope visualization of the treatment as well is key to maximizing efficiency.

Dr. Merchant has led the use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography in north county San Diego to assist in proper diagnosis, improve the quality of care and maximize successful outcomes. 

Endodontic diagnosis can frequently be aided by 3-D imaging.  CBCT provides exceptional safety with extremely low radiation compared to conventional linear medical CT technologies.  It also provides high resolution and the capability of finding evidence of disease that might easily be missed with conventional 2-D radiography.  If required to aid in your diagnosis or treatment, we have this unique advanced technology readily available in the office.  Dr. Merchant and staff will be happy to answer any of your questions regarding the safety and value of this remarkable technology.
